This 1 HOUR of Fashion INSTRUCTION* will be one hour of in-person sewing instruction/training presented and instructed by Patrick Brown-Hayes. This instruction is perfect for anyone who wants to know how to use improve their sewing and clothing construction skills. This instruction can be used for all levels of sewing improvement. Basic sewing knowledge is recommended, but, not required. Please do not purchase this course if you are not able to attend in-person as this course is non-refundable. Age recommendation is 12+. Everyone participating in this course will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability before instruction. A parent/guardian will need to sign the release of liability for anyone under the age of 18. Industrial sewing machines are not a toy and can seriously injure someone if the proper care is not followed. If parents would like to sit in on the course, you will need to buy 1 HR for each person attending. This is environment is a highly rigorous experience. Patrick is a self-taught fashion designer and sewist and has been working in the fashion industry for over 20 years. He uses traditional sewing methods and also focuses on low run-high quality construction using industrial sewing machines. Patrick is also a self-taught industrial sewing machine mechanic and maintains the 30+ different industrial sewing machines at The Killer Clothing Collective himself.
Patrick holds a M.S. in Apparel, Textiles, and Design and he was an instructor for seven years in the apparel programs at Washington State University and University of Idaho. Patrick has taught 18 different courses at the collegiate level over the past ten years.
TOPICS FOR THIS INSTRUCTION CAN INCLUDE: sewing supplies and basic sewing hacks, needle & thread explanation, basic sewing and construction, consumer level sewing machine operation and maintenance, timing and tension for consumer level sewing machines, industrial sewing machine operation, pattern making and deconstruction, upcycling, repairing clothing, and regular business advice in clothing production. NOTE: Some information is confidential and/or considered trade secrets that will not be included in part of this instruction.
YOU WILL NEED: A pencil and notebook for taking notes during this INSTRUCTION.
